North-South Ironman Tournament Results


A medallion is awarded to every YAS
camp graduate
who: (a) improves their basketball skills, (b) shows team-work and sportsmanship during the camp's competitions, and (c) is present at the session's wrap-up awards ceremony.
     
A medallion is also awarded to every player  who: (a) plays throughout the annual YAS North-South Ironman Tournament during late August, (b) shows team-work and sportsmanship both on and off the court at the tournament, and (c) is present at the tournament's wrap-up awards ceremony.
      
Most of the players who attended YAS 2009 won medallions. The names and home towns of the 183 players who won medallions at YAS 2009  
(listed alphabetically by their last names)
 
are shown below.  Each winner's name
is listed only once, although some won
more than one medallion.

Skills-reinforcement tournaments 
and competitions leading to daily championships are held during the afternoons of each YAS camp. 

During tournaments and
competitions, each player plays
equally and has the chance
to reinforce the skills they
learned during morning
instructional sessions.

The YAS Tournaments are
listed below.  Each is unique
to YAS, is highly organized
and has its own set of
structures and rules designed
to increase skills development
within an atmosphere of fun.

Hot Shot is a special YAS tournament
in which players learn to shoot
accurately and quickly under pressure. 
A YAS Hot Shot tournament is precisely measured, timed and score kept. 
   
Senior (age 13 - 16) scores of 60 and
higher are exceptional and are entered
into the YAS all-time official hot shot records list kept on this YAS web site. 
The list has scores dating back to 1983.

Hot shot scores of 60 or higher from
this past summer are listed below.  
Some players had numerous scores
of 60 or higher, but only their best
score of 60 or higher is listed here. 
Their other scores of 60 or higher have been entered into the
"All Time Hot Shot Records" list.

19th Annual
YAS
North - South
Ironman 
Tournament

Each summer, YAS wraps
up with a 4 on 4 man-to-man
tournament for YAS senior
graduates from camps held
in Saskatoon and Regina.
It's called the "North-South
Ironman Tournament."

The 2009 YAS North-South
Ironman Tournament was
played August 21 and 22
at the Cosmo Civic Centre
in Saskatoon. 
    
Forty senior YAS camps
graduates (age 13 - 16)
were placed on balanced
5-player teams and then
competed for the 2009
Saskatchewan Provincial
North-South Ironman
Basketball Tournament Title. 

Each team played 8 games
Friday evening and
all day Saturday.

Each player saw 80 percent
floor time during each game.
